Falling Thin Film Photo Reactor from LELESIl India

The efficient irradiation of liquids with low transmittance represented a unresolved challenge for the development of some photochemical processes.

If there is a lack of penetrative depth, photons are absorbed within shortest distance at the boundary surface.

The optical path of conventional reactors being far too large, the majority of the volume to be irradiated passes the reactor without exposition to the incident radiation, and, consequently, the photochemical process remains inefficent.

In the case of photochemical reactions implying radical intermediates, mostly macromolecular secondary products may form and may be deposited at the boundary surface of the immersion lamp system ('filming').
These deposits additionally absorb the photons emitted by the lamp and, in extreme cases, may lead to overheating of a conventional photoreactor.

Falling Thin Film Photo Reactor from LELESIl India has a special design that permits efficient irradiation of liquids with low transmission in the form of an evenly falling-film with high turbulence (tumbling) and low layer thickness.

Deposits on the jacket tube are prevented, as the liquid film has no physical contact with the immersion lamp system. A minimum flow rate is required to produce a constant and equilibrated falling-film within which the turbulence is characterized by Reynolds number of Re>400.

LELESIL Offers electrochemical UV Elctorc Chem Cell Reactor from 100ml - 5000ml with complete set of Electrodes with Touch Control SCADA Output with AO - AI Interface

The operational volume in 200ml cell is 50-200 mL.
It is equipped with 7 multi-purpose ports.
In the normal cell configuration, these ports are used as follows:

• One central B7R TQR joint for a Working Electrode (corrosion sample or rotated electrode—not included)
• One Internal Thread port for a Luggin capillary/bridge tube for use with SCE, Ag/AgCl, and Hg/Hg₂SO₄ reference electrodes (electrodes ordered separately)
• One Internal Thread port for a counter electrode—either a graphite rod or a glass frit isolated platinum wire counter electrode.
• One Threaded port for inert gas purging/blanketing
• One Threaded glass port usable for temperature sensing, reagent addition, gas venting, etc.

The Internal Threads allow for vertical adjustment to accommodate a wide range of sample volumes. The vertical adjustment is also handy to make sure your reference electrode bridge tube is placed close to the surface of your corrosion sample.
The bubbler has one position for deaeration and another for blanketing.

The Electrochem Cell Glassware is available in a jacketed version for temperature control using thermic Fluid to Heat or Cool between -20 to 220 degs for UV Thermcal Glass.
The temperature can be controlled by pumping thermostatted MEG through the jacket.

Corrosion Testing

Traditionally, corrosion experiments are performed in a 1500ml flask such as the MultiPort, using electrolyte volumes of 750-1200 mL.
The practice of using large volumes has evolved from standardized procedures such as ASTM G5 for Potentiodynamic Anodic Polarization Measurements. The only technical reason to employ high electrolyte volumes is to minimize contamination by the corrosion products.
